McCain! Obama! Which Ticket Will Best Help Housing Market Recovery? Will Either?

Good morning, AR!

Man, last night, I didn't feel like I was in Chicago.  Or in the Active Rain Community.

I felt like I was in the middle of a partisan love fest in St. Paul MN!

A lot of positive comments about the Republican Ticket.  Many rebutting comments, positive ones, for the most part, about the Ticket the Democrats offer.

Unfortunately, a lot of disparaging comments as well, hurled across the aisle, from one side to the other.  Yes?

But, folks, let's boil all of this stuff down!

WHICH TICKET WILL BE THE BEST FRIEND TO U.S. HOUSING MARKET RECOVERY?  McCain and Palin?  Obama and Biden?  Neither - things just have to run their course?

Will the election of either ticket make a real difference?  Do things just need to run their course? Or, are more "shots in the arm . . . or ass" . . . needed?

I think we all agree that one person, alone, can't cure all of our ills.  But that person, that ticket, that administration, that political party, can set the tone.  Provide leadership, and inspiration.  Real CHANGE?  Possibly!

The only thing we know is come next January, there will be another occupant of the White House.  Of the two top choices for that occupant - who will do the most, or be the best, to return resiliency to the housing market.

Spouted rhetoric aside, of course!

What say you?

I'm very hopeful with McCain, I know his record, his character.  I think he's a win.

McCain to me seems to have a "let things run it's course attitude", especially since he is painting himself as a maverick who will reign in on the spending.

Spending will be a mechanism to help the homeowners in trouble, at least in the short term, and also help the market in general, so I think for the housing market, Obama Biden will be better.

Kind Regards,

Dean,

Love your insight!  I would have to side with The Republican Party.  I'm not an advocate of war, but am an advocate of home security.  My opinion is that if Obama wins that Israel may attack Iran and we may not step in to aid.  If that's the case it would make us vulnerable and I was in the business that last time we came under attack and saw how bad it hurt my bottom line until the country rebounded.  I would rather have a secure feeling and let this cycle run itself.

Being a Desert Storm Vet, I know what it's like to be away from home and do hope whoever gets the "job" starts to bring some guys/gals home!

I do like Obama's insights and am confident he can stir some stuff up and make changes for the better as well.

Either way it's going to be an exciting two months to come!

Much Success!

I worry about the ensuing taxes that will be put upon the average American with all the "helping programs" the Democrats are offering.  No government program comes without a tax increase somewhere on someone.  "the government" is us folks, we pay for it.. either today or tomorrow and our national debt is a reflection of that tomorrow.

I think it is too early to tell who will help housing. Since the issue is some what complex with the fed component the finance component etc etc it is going to take reforms not just in housing but with the services that support housing. HOwever I do know one think The Republicans under George Bush made a concerted effort and came close to suceeding in gett9ing banks into housing. That is a harpoonin my heart and my business so I klnow who I am voting for. You can debate who may or may not take your money in taxes but when someone tries to take away how you make a living then the debate stops for me.

I worry about the rising taxes. I do not think that the government needs to be end all answer for this country's woes. We as Americans need to work this out and we will...

I agree with Ken.  Less government interference, encourage investment into local economy and give more state and local control.  We send 750 billion dollars to countries around the world that don't like us much.  There is your money to start helping folks in our own backyard. If less waste and top heavy federal government, and more of the way we run small town communities with common sense and fiscal responsibility accounting for expenses and not spending beyond our means, the housing market is a sector really given a shot in the arm.  The McCain/Palin ticket is real world.  They get it...they are like the rest of us..the majority of down home, down to earth, real world folks.

I don't think either party will help the housing market anytime soon.  The market will run its course and I see it starting to improve.  What I think has hurt the market most is the gas prices.  People are not willing to move too far from work.  Their pocket book is tighter and they are worried that gas may go upto $10.00 a gallon, so they are holding back.  Then there is the foreclosures.  Many buyers that I have contacted are waiting to see if the prices will come down more before buying.  The tax credit is a joke.  I have not seen anyone excited about this, except those using it in their marketing.  It is just a loan that you get down the line when you file taxes and then you get to pay it back and so there is another payment on top of your new house payment.  At least this is the way I see it.

Obama's plan will cripple the economy -  As an example, Obama's plan is Tax small business and corporate America and says that will help get American workers better pay and more workers working.  How will that work is business will have to lay-off workers, cut jobs, reduce wages and cripple growth - He also will Increase the Capital Gains Tax, which will effect our industry, death taxes....  From my view, an Obama Administration will be an administration of Taxation, Big Government and Entitlements.  I've been paying attention to both canidates, Obama gives a great speech, but he does not have any record of accomplishment unless you count him being a community organizer, Chicago Rep, and Short Term Senator. ( He's a Harvard Grad, taught law school and worked in a law firm where he helped Rezco aquire around 13 million in loans for public housing rehab.  Rezco has been convicted of fraud.  The public housing developments are boarded up blight in Chicago.)  Obama nor Biden has ever balanceda budget. They do not like our military - The liberal media is in the tank for Obama, they have not looked into his background or reported fairly.  It took the media about a month to say anything about Obama's ties to Trinity Church and Rev. Wright - Obama spent 20 years listening to the I hate America (and worse) rants of Wright - What does that say about his judgment and character?  The more I know, the more I hope people pay attention to what he stands for and doesn't.

I have listened to both parties and while I was not thrilled McCain was the Republican nomonee, McCain's plan to veto pork-barrel spending, keep taxes cut, give business tax credits, to help get the economy moving and growing once again.  I like the fact that McCain backs school of choice.  We wonder why communities are riddled with crime and decay - If we don't educate our kids, what do they have to build upon?  Parents need to send their kids to safe schools where their kids can get an education and set a foundation for their future. I also think that the McCain-Palin ticket will change things in Washington and get both parties to reduce pork spending and in return, keep taxes low - I don't know how many watched Palin's speech, but I really liked her.  I like what she has done in Alaska.  I like that both McCain and Palin will open up drilling to decrease our dependence on foreign oil; alternative energy sources that will be built by Americans and for Americans.  McCain has a record of not towing party lines and fighting political corruption. So does Palin.  At the republican convention, they said a line that struck a cord " McCain is the only person in this race that has actually fought for you."  He has been in war; he was a prisoner for 6 years.  I think with that kind of experience, McCain will lead and build our Military and not waste that all to valuable resource to keep us safe.

Long Story Short, Between the 2 choices, I think McCain Palin will get the Country back on track...

I believe that of the 2 sets of candidates that the McCain/Palin ticket are who they appear to be.  We aren't seeing the smoke and mirrors or wishy washy commentary.  I think they will step up to the plate and give it their all -- we need that right now. ~ Evelyn
