Spam No More? Try Cloudmark Desktop!

Good Evening Everyone,

Ever since I built a Public Website, I have been plagued with Spam.  Tons of it!   I can make the world's biggest sandwich out of it, and still have room for leftovers tomorrow!

Tried Outlook and Outlook Express Filtering, Filtering at Point2, my web hosts (they OVER filtered), and numerous free and paid programs that said, "Pick me - we are the best Killer of The Spam!"

To date, Cloudmark Desktop, available for both Outlook and Outlook Express, seems to be the best.  After installed, it filters spam to it's own folder for subsequent deletion.  You can check the folder first, anytime, to see if any legitimate mail has been mis-directed.  Also, you can marked any missed spam, immediately, as either "Block Spam," or, equally as important in this day and age, "Block Phishing," the malicious attempt to disguise a scam offer in a seemingly-legitimate letterhead.

The company offers a 7 day free trial, afterward the cost for two computers is a reasonable $39.95/year.

Try Cloudmark out and let me know what you think, or if you have a better solution.

Dean - I use Trend Micro's PC-cillin.  The spam filters in the program are exceptional and their anti-virus updates are continuous.  The firewall portion also reports any attempted intrusions either through a pop-up notification or you can check it manually.

I particularly like the feature that blocks ads on websites that collect tracking cookies.  It's well worth the $49/year I pay for 2 computers.

Never heard of Cloudmark, but I'm not ready to forego my PCcillin yet.

Hi Dean:  I am really curious why you are bombarded with so much spam.  The only thing I can think of is that your website is so well "placed"... or so well-juided... Google-wise... that you get lots of spam.  My question... does the spam you get outnumber the quality emailed and inquiries you get from your website, or is there some "balance" in your email... yes, lots of spam, but hopefully even more "useable" email ?  I'm just wondering.  Thanks for sharing... take care.

I get some spam, but do not have a live link on my site to my email address. It is posted as an image, with an empty mailto: tag. Opens the mail client, but they have to manually input the easy address. Definitely cuts down on the spam.
