This Weekend in Chicago - January 16-17, 2010

Good Evening from Chicago, folks!

Looking for something to do around Our Town this weekend?  Dean's Team Member Sue Moss provides a summary -

Billed as the largest show of its kind here in the Midwest, the Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoor Show, now in its 80th year, rolled into McCormick Place (2301 S. Lake Shore Drive) this past Wednesday and runs through Sunday.  Browse through isles of hundreds of new boats, RVs, accessories and travel destinations.  Or, do a little fishing in the trout pond attraction.  Click here for more information.

Then there's the 25th annual kick-off to spring training and the upcoming baseball season at the Cubs Convention held at the Hilton Chicago.  Here you'll get a chance to mingle with current and former Cubs players as well as their front office executives and even the broadcasters.  And, besides a great Convention Session Schedule again this year, there's the Chicago Cubs Photo Experience or the "new" Baseball Interactive Zone which includes The Diamond, Batting and Pitching Cages with Professional Instruction and much more.

A few fundraising events at the convention this year are:  Race to Wrigley, Meet the Team, Hey Dad, Wanna Have a Catch and more.  So don't delay, click here for all the details as well as the complete Convention Session Schedule.

Would you rather have a more relaxing weekend?

Wrapping up this weekend is The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival at the Theatre Building Chicago (1225 W. Belmont Avenue) in the Lakeview neighborhood.  If you're in the mood for a good laugh, this is the place to be!  Over 100 groups from Chicago and around the world perform shows on three stages.  Click here for more information as well as show times and performances.

Tony Award-winner Brian Dennehy is in town at the Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn Street) performing two short dramas - ‘Hughie' and ‘Krapp's Last Tape'.   "Hughie" was written by Eugene O'Neill and being directed by Robert Falls.  "Krapp's Last Tape" was written by Samuel Beckett and being directed by Jennifer Tarver, a Toronto-based artist. Some may say Winter in Chicago is gray and desolate.  But we don't think so!

Enjoy the weekend!
